Learn how to get free gift cards online without completing offers. Everyone loves gift cards and even more so when they are free. However, often obtaining gift cards requires you to spend money or complete boring tasks. This post shows you how to get gift cards online without hassle.

🪧 Should you sign up through my affiliate links, I may receive a commission at no cost to you.

1. MobileXpression

MobileXpression is a market research company. When you connect your phone to their VPN, they can analyse your usage data anonymously. MobileXpression pays you gift cards in return for being a panel member.

Read more in my MobileXpression review.

2. Nielsen Panel

Nielsen is another market research company. It’s also anonymous. For each week you have the app installed, you earn points. You can exchange points for gift cards. The maximum you earn annually is £63, meaning £5 per month. You can also participate in sweepstakes with prizes of up to £1000.

3. Reward Credit Cards

Credit cards rewarding you with gift cards are hard to find. But they exist. For example, the M&S credit card gives you 2 points for every pound spent in an M&S store. In total, 100 points are worth £1, and you can get these as a gift card for spending in an M&S store.

Be mindful that spending to obtain a gift card is not worth it. Additionally, consider that you will pay interest on the money on your credit card. Therefore, you have to pay it off each month.

4. Online Giveaways

Giveaways are a good opportunity to win money online. Whether you win depends on your luck. However, if you enter enough giveaways, you should win something.

Finding giveaways is not difficult if you know where to look. Many influencers and bloggers run giveaways to increase their following. All you have to do to enter is follow the person. Apart from this, Google is your friend. Enter “free giveaways UK” into the search bar, and you will find something.

The internet is full of scam giveaways. Never pay money to enter a giveaway or give out your bank details. Legit giveaways email your gift card or pay through PayPal.

5. Swagbucks

Swagbucks is a rewards site. You can use the Swagbucks’ search engine to complete ordinary web searches or enter sweepstakes. Read more in my Swagbucks review.

6. Cashback Sites

Many cashback sites also allow you to cash out in the form of a gift card rather than cash. Choosing a gift card often gives you more value compared to cash.

7. Web Searching

People type millions of search terms into Google every day. What if they could be paid for it? Sites like Qmee actually pay for searching the web.

With Qmee, all you have to do is install a browser extension. Search as usual and click on the ads alongside your search result. Qmee works best if you are in the US.

Swagbucks is a reward site that offers all kinds of services. One of these is a search engine that awards you Swagbucks (SBs), the currency of Swagbucks. You can convert these into a range of gift cards.

8. Survey Sites

Survey sites often reward you with gift cards for filling in surveys and providing your input. You earn anywhere from a few pence to a few pounds per survey. Which gift cards you can get depends on the website. For example, SurveyJunkie offers:

  • Groupon (SurveyJunkie only)
  • iTunes
  • Amazon
  • Sephora
  • Target
  • Walmart
  • Starbucks

You can sign up to multiple sites to pick out the best surveys.

9. Twitter Parties

Twitter parties are a get-together on Twitter. You can join in by using the party’s hashtag. These hashtags can be found in the hashtag directory or by following people involved in the Twitter party.

Every tweet must contain the party hashtag to join the Twitter party. Otherwise, it will not show up in the party feed. If you want to listen in, that is simple too. All you have to do is click on the hashtag.

10. Instagram Offers

Instagram has become increasingly popular for hunting gift cards. Search for the following hashtags:

  • #giveaway
  • #contest
  • #sweepstakes
  • #freebie
  • #freebiefriday

Usually, you will be able to find plenty of opportunities. If you enter them all, you increase your chances of winning.

11. Friend Referrals

Many brands have friend referral offers. When you refer a friend to them, you and your friend get a gift card or another reward. If there is a website or app you think your friends will benefit from, search for their friend referral program. There are often some conditions attached to it.

For example, the friend has to click on your link, fund their account within a set timeframe, etc. Ensure you are aware of these conditions so you don’t miss out.

12. Shoppix

Shoppix is a receipt-scanning app. You can take pictures of your grocery shopping receipts and submit them to Shoppix. In return, you get points to convert into gift cards. Read more in my Shoppix review.

13. Zilch

Zilch is a buy now, pay later company. With Zilch, you can buy things on credit and pay in instalments. Buy now, pay later schemes are dangerous as they can lead you to overspend. However, Zilch has a great sign-up offer. New customers can get a free gift card worth between £5 to £15. Read more in my Zilch review.

14. Sweatcoin

Sweatcoin is a step-counting app that pays you for walking. For every step you make, Sweatcoin pays you SWC, which you can use to buy gift cards. Sweatcoin does not pay a lot, but since you walk anyway, you might as well use it. Read more in my Sweatcoin review.

15. Watching Ads

Some apps pay you to watch ads. Most of them allow you to cash out your earnings through gift cards. Watching ads is convenient because you can do it while doing something else. Watching ads does not pay much, and you may have to answer questions after watching.

16. Watching TV

Similar to watching ads, you can also get paid to watch TV.

17. Honeygain

Honeygain is another market research company. Honeygain works passively by analysing your internet usage and your online shopping. Of course, your data are anonymised.

18. Using a Browser Extension

You can use a browser extension such as Captial One Shopping to earn credits while using the internet. These credits can then be exchanged for gift cards.

19. Freecash

Freecash.com is another rewards site. On Freecash, there are plenty of ways to earn gift cards. Some require little effort, such as referring friends or playing games. Read more in my Freecash.com review.

20. Returning Unwanted Gifts

Have you been gifted something you do not need or want? Bring it back to the store within the refund period and bag a gift card as long as you have the receipt. It is completely acceptable to return unwanted gifts, and you do not need to feel guilty about it.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are Free Gift Cards Legit?

There are many scams, and you need to be very careful. If a company offers gift cards or you see a giveaway, read their reviews. If the company is an investment site, check these signs to determine whether it is legit or a scam.

Generally, if you are unsure, it is best to pass on the opportunity than risk being scammed. You can read more about your rights regarding gift cards here.

What Should You Do With Unwanted Gift Cards?

If you are looking for free gift cards, chances are you will get some gift cards that you have no use for. You can use them as presents for friends or family members on their birthday to get some use out of them.

Another effective way to use them is to turn your gift cards into money by selling them online. You will lose a little bit of money, but it is still better than letting your gift card expire.
