This Wonder (AskWonder) review covers everything about this research site. Wonder lets you make money by searching the web. But does it really work?
I’ve made money online since 2019. I’ve tested many sites, and most were useless. Read the review below so you don’t waste time and know whether Wonder works for you.
What Is Wonder?
Wonder describes itself as a research assistant. Companies can use the site to ask research questions. Wonder gives those questions to its users, who can get paid to answer them.
AskWonder, or Wonder as it now calls itself, is an American company belonging to Balderdash, Inc. Wonder was founded in 2012 by Justin Wohlstadter, Michael Kohen, and Steve McKenzie.
Is Wonder Legit?
Wonder is legit and not a scam. However, just because a company is legit does not mean it is worth using. On Trustpilot, Wonder has an average score of 2.5 out of 5.0. There is not a single positive review. (Though there are only five reviews.)
One complaint is that Wonder does not pay. I think this stems from the fact that for your work to be accepted, it must be good quality. If you do not put in the effort, your work will not be usable, and you will not get paid.
What Is Trustpilot?
Overall, there are over 150 million reviews on Trustpilot. You can generally get a good understanding of the legitimacy and customer-friendliness of a company.
How Does Wonder Work?
Wonder is a research company. If a company has a question, it can submit it to Wonder. Wonder lists the question on its website. Wonder users can research the question and write up the answer. Users get paid for their efforts if the answer is good enough.
Signing up
Signing up to Wonder is free. However, the site does not always accept applications. If they are closed, you will see a message instead of the sign-up form. Click here to check.
When you apply, you first have to pass a test. This is a sample research question. Thus, while everyone can sign up, you will do better if you:
- Can write well and concisely
- Have basic online research skills
- Work time efficiently
You do not need special knowledge. You can answer the test question by searching online. Later, questions require specific knowledge, but you can choose not to answer them.
Answering Questions
Users on Wonder can earn money by answering research questions. How much you earn depends on the difficulty of the question. None of the questions will be easy to answer. They require analysis of your web searches and critical thinking. Typically, questions fall into one of the following categories:
- Market research, e.g. market size for a product or how to reach certain populations
- Advice, e.g. travel recommendations or parenting tips
- Legal, e.g. explain what the law states
- Product recommendations, e.g. what type of product fits the client’s needs
- General knowledge, e.g. questions about history or politics
Getting Paid
Wonder states that they pay between $8 and $35 for each question. Wonder pays through PayPal. Users get paid automatically every two weeks. You do not have to do anything other than provide your PayPal email address to get paid.
You also receive an extra $50 for completing your first project. This compensates you for the initial test.
How Much Money Can You Make With AskWonder?
Wonder states that researchers earn, on average, $12 to $18 per hour. New users usually earn less than experienced users.
The highest per-hour pay I have seen someone make is $30. To make more, you need to be really good. Note that this salary per hour is in dollars and also pre-tax. When converting it into pounds, you get less. If you earn more than £1000 per year in the UK, you must complete a self-assessment and pay tax.
Will Wonder Be Displaced by AI?
As artificial intelligence, such as ChatGPT, improves, more people will use it to get answers. Thus, they won’t need to pay a company like Wonder. This does not mean you cannot sign up for Wonder now. As for now, they still seem to have clients.
However, remember that Wonder may not be a future-proof workplace. Having an alternative plan ready would be smart if you want to rely on online income.

Alternatives to AskWonder
