Making money from walking is great. And with Sweatcoin Premium, you get paid double for every step. But Sweatcoin Premium comes at a cost. Is it worth paying real money to get more sweatcoins?

Sweatcoin Premium is worth it if you walk a lot. It is also worth it if you have saved enough SWC to buy gift cards. In this case, cancel after purchasing. The free version is always worth using.

What Is Sweatcoin?

Sweatcoin is a free app that counts your steps and awards you sweatcoins (SWC) as a reward. You can exchange SWC for products or gift cards. With Sweatcoin, you can earn money by walking. Read my Sweatcoin review for more details on the free plan. This article focuses on Sweatcoin Premium.

How Much Does Sweatcoin Premium Cost?

Sweatcoin Premium costs £4.99 per month or £24.99 per year. Consider buying the annual plan, as you get six months for free. The monthly plan is better if you only use the Premium plan to redeem your SWC.

Can You Get a Sweatcoin Premium Free Trial?

Every user can sign up to a seven-day free trial of Premium. You get access to all Premium features for free. You can cancel anytime during the free trial.

To get your free trial, navigate to your profile. In the plan section, click “Change”, then select “Free Trial” at the bottom of the page. The free trial is worth taking, regardless of how many steps you take.

You can also use this free trial when you have saved enough SWC to buy a gift card. This is because you can access the enhanced marketplace.

What Are the Differences Between Sweatcoin Free and Premium?

Sweatcoin Premium comes with additional features compared to the free plan:

1. Unlimited Daily Earnings

With the free plan, you can only earn 10 SWC and have 10,000 steps counted. On the Premium plan, there is no limit. Having a step limit is annoying because it limits your earnings. The limit doesn’t affect you if you walk less than 10,000 steps.

Check how many steps you do in the app history section. Consider upgrading to Sweatcoin Premium if you regularly exceed the 10,000-step limit.

10,000 steps convert to 9.5 SWC because Sweatcoins takes 0.5 SWC commission. Read about this in the terms.

2. Double Steps

When you subscribe to Premium, all your steps are counted twice. You earn 2 SWC for each step instead of 1 SWC. The value of 1 SWC is only around £0.002. Doubling your earnings means one step is worth around £0.004. As you can see, double earnings are not a big increase.

I think it is not worth upgrading to Sweatcoin Premium to get double steps. Consider upgrading only if you walk a lot.

3. Enhanced Marketplace

You can exchange your SWC for vouchers as a Premium member. Examples include Uber Eats, Adidas, Apple, and more. If you do not want vouchers, use reselling websites to turn them into cash.

Gift cards and vouchers quickly sell out. To get one, you must be quick and try a few times. You can only get gift cards and vouchers if you are a Premium member.

4. Doubled Donations

When you join Sweatcoin Premium, every SWC you donate is doubled. The charity will receive 2 SWCs for every SWC donated. The exchange rate of 1 SWC = ~£0.002 has been derived from the offers on the Marketplace. Before the app redesign, it was closer to £0.10 for each SWC. It is hard to estimate the money given to charities.

It is not worth paying for an app to increase your donations. It’s easier to donate directly.

5. App Icon Options

Free users are stuck with the standard purple app icon. Premium users can choose from 17 icons. These icons look nice, and there are many styles.

At What Time Does the Sweatcoin Shop Refresh?

The Sweatcoin shop refreshes at 12:00 noon GMT for UK users. If you are in the US, it resets at 8 AM EST. This is important to know if you want to buy a gift card. They often sell out within a minute of the shop refresh.

Your best chance is to open the app at reset. You may need to do this daily until you can buy a gift card. It does not matter which gift card you get. Buy whatever is available. You can turn any gift card into money on re-selling sites.

Is Sweatcoin Premium Worth Your Money? Summary

Sweatcoin Premium is a paid plan that gives you access to extra features:

  • Unlimited daily earnings: Worth upgrading for if you walk a lot (probably more than ~2000 per day)
  • Double steps: Worth upgrading if you walk a lot
  • Enhanced marketplace: Essential to get good rewards
  • Doubled donations: Not worth upgrading for
  • App icon options: Not worth upgrading for

Upgrading to Shopmium Premium is worth it if you walk a lot or want to redeem your SWC. If you are doing the latter, cancel after getting the reward.

Signing up to Sweatcoin on the free plan is worth it. Although you are unlikely to make much money, you get paid for nothing. It may also encourage you to exercise more.
